About

Vernon Economic Development Association (VEDA) was formed in January of 2006 in Western Wisconsin by a group of community and business leaders from throughout the region. They realized a need for a coordinated approach to economic development to strengthen our communities and to bring state and federal resources to our region. VEDA is a non-stock, non-profit corporation with a tax exempt 501(c)(3) status. The organization is funded principally by memberships and donations from businesses, municipalities and community members. Activities are governed by a thirteen member, non-paid board of directors and managed by an executive director.

Our mission is to create sustainable economic growth that increases the prosperity and well-being of the people of this region, while protecting and enhancing the area's unique environment, which is the foundation of our rural lifestyle and quality of life. VEDA helps businesses start up, grow and expand by offering free one to one counseling, access to tools and resources, the physical infrastructure of the Food Enterprise Center, coordination infrastructure of the Fifth Season Cooperative, educational workshops and monthly Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meetings that are open to everyone.

The Food Enterprise Center is a business, multi-tenant facility in Viroqua, Wisconsin, owned and managed by Vernon Economic Development Association. The Center includes two state of the art, large commercial kitchens, clean packing space, walk in coolers, warehouse storage areas, custom built tenant spaces, conference rooms and loading docks. It is currently home to 26 businesses who provide more than 90 jobs.

VEDA's work is nurturing an innovative, entrepreneurial environment and building wealth in the region. It is an economic development strategy based on community development, creating a facility and a network that welcomes investors, grows food businesses and attracts entrepreneurs to a very cool place to locate a business!  More information is available by contacting Executive Director, Susan Noble at [email protected] or 608.638.8332.
