WiSolve Consulting Group is a non-profit providing low-cost, data-driven business services to entrepreneurs and businesses and experiential training to UW graduate and postdoctoral members in entrepreneurship practices to enhance business acumen.

About

WiSolve Consulting Group is a Wisconsin nonprofit organization that provides consulting services for a variety of clients, ranging from university innovators and entrepreneurs to large corporations. WiSolve specializes in various aspects of business planning including market research, competitor analysis, technology assessment, and consumer-facing materials. Our members are University of Wisconsin- Madison Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and MBA’s.

Wiolve provides two core services:

  • Professional development on topics relevant to technology transfer and entrepreneurship for Ph.D students, post-docs, and MBA's
  • Data-driven business recommendations for biotech and healthcare ventures

By utilizing Ph.D. level scientists equipped with advanced academic training, WiSolve provides high-quality, flexible, lower-cost services that fit the needs of early-stage entrepreneurs.

For trainees: WiSolve's team comprises of Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) trained by offering hands-on experiences with clients and workshops to broaden their entrepreneurial skills. Since 2017, we have provided community workshops and seminars, reaching over 200 WiSolve consultants and members of the broader Wisconsin entrepreneurial community. Our monthly entrepreneurial training workshops provide an opportunity for our members to enhance business skills and foster professional development. Some of the lecture topics covered include Business Plan Writing, Creating Lean Startups, Consulting 101. We are proud to take an active part in the emerging entrepreneurial community in WI. Our strong connections with many local organizations like in the Innovation Network that help provide our members with valuable networking opportunities. WiSolve helps members develop transferable skills (soft-skills, problem-solving, communication) needed for academic and non-academic career paths.  Our alumni have diversified career paths after graduation, with more than 60% currently in non-traditional Ph.D. career paths (industry, VC firms, startups) and even 10% becoming entrepreneurs. 

For businesses and entrepreneurs: WiSolve Consulting Group offers clients a unique opportunity to engage Ph.D. level scientists' analytical services to assist with solving different business problems. Our organization currently excels in providing market analysis, developing and writing SBIR/STTR grants, developing investor-facing material for scientific innovations, and performing customer discovery for technical and scientific products. WiSolve has developed expertise in training and executing market research for clients using our volunteer consultants' model working on mentored, limited-term, contracted projects with local companies. Our consultants represent many disciplines of expertise and can use their varied skillset to add value to our client's business. Our team of scientifically trained, business-literate, flexible staff matches perfectly with the needs of local businesses.
