 Is Starting a Business Right for You?

Many veterans would like to be in business for themselves, but the process for starting and maintaining a business is seldom as easy as it sounds. 

Veterans are ideal candidates to start a business. They have extensive training and skills, they understand the virtues of hard work and persistence. Vets are typically well organized and disciplined. However, the battlefield is a far different landscape than the business world, and the SCORE Veteran Fast Launch program is designed to help our vets transition their skills to main street entrepreneur-ship.  SCORE’s mentors and programs offer a vast amount of “boots on the ground” experience to help these men and women continue on their path to success.

In this powerful series, you'll learn how to:
  • Define and evaluate your business idea
  • Develop a marketing strategy
  • Understand business financials
  • Identify the best ways to fund your start-up 
You'll also have a great opportunity to connect with other entrepreneurs, share experiences and expand your network.
 
Each participant gains access to all the SCORE materials used in this series along with the full complement of SCORE business development tools and templates to make starting your business as efficient as possible. You'll also have experienced SCORE mentors on hand who are prepared to help you realize your dream of entrepreneurship!

Session 1 - Start Up Basics:   Explains the initial steps the entrepreneur needs to take to launch a startup.   

Session 2 - Business Concepts:  Explains the critically essential next step of framing your dream into business terms to maximize feasibility. 
 
Session 3 - Marketing Plan:  How can I get more customers to buy?  This session will explain key work needed to promote and sell.     

Session 4 - Financial Projections:  You need a financial plan to examine the feasibility of your numbers.  However, common concerns of the entrepreneurs are: the spreadsheets look complicated; this is overwhelming; can I start my business without a financial projection model? Learn answers to these questions and overcome your fiscal anxiety in this session.

Session 5 - Funding Sources:  Funding organizations want accurate accounting and recordkeeping facts, research, and projections.  This session shows the entrepreneurs funding sources and how to meet their requirements.
